So of course the real solution to high water temperatures in a hydroponic reservoir is a water chiller. we tried inserting bottles of ice water into the res tank but despite dedicating a small chest freezer to the production of ice, found it almost impossible to sufficiently and consistently cool our water (warmed by hot sunshine on the pipes outside).. Most indoor hydroponic growers that use a deep water culture system will run into the reservoir temperature issue at some point in a grow. dwc systems tend to heat up quick when under high wattage hid lighting .. Article 4-3 nutrient temp. nutrient temperature - oxygen and pythium in hydroponics by dr. lynette morgan, courtesy of na greenhouse. the hydroponic nutrient solution is not just a mix of fertilizer salts and water, there are a number of organisms and compounds commonly found in our hydroponic systems that we need to be aware of..
The optimum nutrient solution temperature may vary a little bit depending on who you ask and type of plant, but the optimum water temperature for your hydroponic systems is between 68 and 72 degrees fahrenheit (20 to 22 celsius).. 1 what temp do you use? 2 why? 3 what is the low end optimal sterile temp? 4 what is the the higher optimal max growth temp? 5 anything else? people with city water should not get algae because of the chlorine in the water.. i use bleach in my hydro reservoirs to keep them sterile.. .5ppm chlorine residual will keep everything clean... Well, it turns out that if you bubble enough air into the water and keep it at the right temperature, roots will thrive. add some mineral-based nutrients and you have a powerhouse hydroponic growing method!.
